Okay, if you haven’t seen this you are in for a treat. “Adventure Time” was a short kids’ animation created for Nickelodeon’s “Random! Cartoons” – a stand alone animated episode that has since outshined its series competition (just check out the number of views on youtube!). It concerns the adventures of boy wonder Pen and his magical dog friend Jake and without further ado, please check it out:
Amazing, huh? It combines the psychedelic and surreal (check the unicorn, and the brief trip to Mars with Abraham Lincoln) with the fantastical (check the Ice King, the Snow Golem, the Ice Clops etc) in to one non-stop, action packed adventure. I love the crazy dialogue, packed full of quotable one liners – an entire new language of awesome phrases (“Algebraic!”, “Rhombus!” etc), and the awesome Commodore 64 soundtrack – perhaps pre-empting that the show would be more of a cult hit with an older generation (ala “Spongebob”).
The main reason I am posting this is in support – “Adventure Time” deserves its own show. The creators official site is here, which includes an interesting (if brief) FAQ about the short. If you’re on facebook, join the Adventure Time group and show your love for the show!
Peace all – and apologies for the sporadity of my most recent posts. I’m currently at Film School which mean writing about film has become less of a break – however it might mean you actually get some films I’ve made posted on here sooner or later.
